Grumples Adventure Devlog #6


Hasn't been that long but I've already made some progress on the ideas I mentioned in the last Devlog! So heres what I've done:


1. I added the static NPC obstacle. In level 2 the owner of the house now stands in the kitchen. 

2. I experimented with player speed tweaks but found them to be ineffective with in the variable range I used. I will be doing further work on this, to substitute tweaks to the player/physics I modified level layouts.

3.I added Loading screens.

4. I'm still looking into optimizing scripts since some of them require the variables to be public. However I might focus more on asset optimization since my research on resource usage revealed that scripts use more CPU and assets use more RAM. CPU usage is negligible so I'll probably optimize assets if I notice any performance Issues. The game isnt intensive at all so it doesn't even need optimization but my friend mentioned the game lagging when he tested it on his computer, although that can be written off as his 4GB of ram struggling to keep up with video playback, discord, and running the game. Current build does use less resource with a peak of 168 MB compared to the previous peak of 483 MB.

5.Level 3 has been added. The current level structure goes like this: Tutorial> Prolouge (Level one and Two), Chapter One (level 3, and soon levels 4,5,and 6).

6.The bar of soap Is currently hidden (Hint: Missing level boundary, <.) It doesn't do anything yet but in teh future I plan to have it be a really well hidden secret that is super hard to get but unlocks cool things. Things it MIGHT unlock include but are not limited too: Toggling OG loading screens for ALL levels, Toggling OG music for the tutorial (currenly uses the same song but will be changed later!), level one, and level 2, Infinite health mode, SUPER EXTREME MODE, and a toggle that lets you choose which character you play as on ANY level! Keep in mind these are all only possibilities.

7.I added in some of the story!

8.Changed the music for the Menu, Level one and Level 2.


Those of you who read the previous devlog have probably noticed that even though I completed all the ideas I had listed for 0.02 it isn't available on the page yet. This is because there are still a few things im ironing out before I put it up on the project home.
